What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy helps people through emotional difficulties, mental health issues and relationship challenges using talk-based approaches.
It provides a safe, confidential space for people to explore issues such as Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Anger, as well as relationship conflicts, to name but a few!
When working with addictions often this will include liaising with a psychiatrist, professional colleagues, and in some cases referrals to in-patient treatment.
It helps people to improve their mental health and wellbeing by talking things through and finding healthier ways to cope.

Families

Family therapy helps by looking at the WHOLE family system rather than just one individual. It is based on the idea that difficulties in one person are often linked to patterns of communication roles or dynamics within the family.
- Improves communication – learn to listen to each other
- Identify patterns
- Strengthen relationships
- Develop problem-solving skills
- Support specific challenges, such as addicitions
- Encourage growth and resilience
Working with Children
Because some children often don’t yet have the words or coping strategies to manage big emotions, changes, or stressful experiences, therapy helps by create a safe, supportive space where children can express themselves and learn ways to cope.
- Understanding emotions
- Building coping strategies
- Healing from difficult experiences
- Improving behaviour
- Strengthening self-esteem
- Supporting Family relationships
- Early intervention

Adolescents

Therapy can be especially helpful during adolescence since the teenage years are a time of huge emotional, social and physical change. Adolescents are developing their identity, independence, and peer relationships – whilst also navigating pressures from school, family and the wider world!
Adolescents can often be experiencing very intense and complex struggles with emotions, identity and coping strategies. These difficulties are often ways of managing overwhelming feelings, trauma, or a lack of control, such as:
- Eating disorders
- Self-harm
- Substance misuse
- Addictions
- Behavioural challenges
- Peer relationships
Adults
- Gaining emotional relief,
- Self-understanding
- Healing
- Skill building
- Personal growth.
